This documentary explores the way of life of a Karen community who not only live in the forest, but also a part of it. Their deep connection with the land is reflected through belief systems, cultural practices, and traditions rooted in the forest and nature.
Director’s Statement :
During a visit to Mae Khong Village in Na Kian Subdistrict, Omkoi District, Chiang Mai, I had no plan to film a documentary. However, what I encountered there the daily life of the Karen people was profoundly simple, beautiful, and deeply meaningful.
Armed with only a camera I happened to carry, and filming in less-than-ideal conditions, I found myself capturing something raw and honest, a way of life that flows naturally, shaped by belief systems, inherited wisdom, and an intimate bond between people and the forest.
This documentary is more than a portrait of a remote community. It is a reflection on the delicate connection between humans and nature, and a quiet question about the future of such ways of life in an ever-changing world.
