The What the Doc! (WTD!) International Documentary Film Festival, organized by Documentary Club (Thailand), is dedicated to promoting and showcasing high-quality documentary films, making them more accessible to Thai audiences. The festival also provides a platform for dialogue, discussions, and other related creative activities. In 2026, WTD! is being held for the second time.

เทศกาลภาพยนตร์สารคดีนานาชาติ What the Doc! (WTD!) จัดโดย Documentary Club ที่ตั้งใจส่งเสริมและเผยแพร่ภาพยนตร์สารคดีคุณภาพให้คนไทยได้รู้จักและเข้าถึงมากขึ้น และยังเปิดพื้นที่สนทนารวมถึงกิจกรรมเชิงสร้างสรรค์ที่เกี่ยวข้องอื่น ๆ ด้วย ซึ่งในปี 2026 นี้ได้จัดเทศกาล WTD! ขึ้นเป็นครั้งที่สองแล้ว

The WTD!2 will take place from 3 – 13 September, 2026.

W อะวอร์ด

(*ต้องกำกับโดยผู้หญิง ไม่จำกัดความยาว มีเพียง 5 เรื่องเท่านั้นที่จะได้เข้ารอบ)

  • รางวัลผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์หญิง 100,000 บาท
  • รางวัลคณะกรรมการตัดสิน-สำหรับผู้กำกับหญิง 50,000 บาท

Short Documentary Awards

(*Films must be shorter than 30 minutes and a total of 10 films will be shortlisted. No nationality restrictions apply.)

  • Best Short Documentary Award 70,000 THB (approx. USD 2,300)
  • Special Jury Prize for Short Documentary 50,000 THB (approx. USD 1,600)

ประเภทสารคดีสั้น

(*หนังต้องมีความยาวไม่เกิน 30 นาที และมีเพียง 10 เรื่องเท่านั้นที่จะได้เข้ารอบ ประกวดร่วมกันทั้งหนังไทยและต่างชาติ)

  • สารคดีสั้นยอดเยี่ยม 70,000 บาท
  • รางวัลคณะกรรมการตัดสินพิเศษ 50,000 บาท

Eligibility
เกณฑ์การสมัคร

  1. Submissions are open to all forms, including conventional, hybrid, and experimental works. Any film identified by the filmmaker as a documentary will be considered for selection. 
  2. Feature-length documentaries must have a minimum running time of 40 minutes. Short documentaries must have a maximum running time of 30 minutes. (Films with a running time of 31–39 minutes may be submitted; however, such films may not be eligible for the competition. Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of the selection committee.)
  3. Only completed films are eligible. Works in progress, including films currently in post-production or editing, will not be considered. 
  4. Eligible films must have been completed after 1 January 2025. (Exceptions may be made in certain cases at the discretion of the selection committee.)
  5. Films must not have been previously screened in Thailand. (Exceptions may be made in certain cases at the discretion of the selection committee.)
  6. Films must not have been previously released, screened, or made publicly available on any online platforms.
  7. All films in languages other than English must include English subtitles.
  8. Screeners submitted for consideration must be provided exclusively via Google Drive or Vimeo links. For Google Drive submissions, the link must be set to public access and downloads must be enabled. For Vimeo submissions, the link must be password-protected and downloads must be enabled.
  9. Screeners uploaded to YouTube, made publicly available for viewing, offered as video-on-demand (VOD), or with downloads disabled will be automatically disqualified from consideration. (Please note that even for submissions made via FilmFreeway, applicants must also include a downloadable screener link through Google Drive or Vimeo.)
  10. The link must remain accessible throughout the submission period and until 15 July 2026. 
  1. เปิดรับผลงานทุกรูปแบบ ทั้งในขนบ ลูกผสม และเชิงทดลอง หากผู้ผลิตพิจารณาว่าภาพยนตร์ของตนเป็นสารคดี ก็สามารถส่งเข้ามาให้คัดเลือกได้
  2. ประเภทสารคดีขนาดยาว ต้องมีความยาวอย่างน้อย 40 นาทีขึ้นไป ส่วนสารคดีสั้น ต้องไม่เกิน 30 นาที (หนังความยาว 31-39 นาที สามารถส่งเข้ามาได้ แต่อาจไม่สามารถเข้ารอบการประกวด ยกเว้นว่าจะมีความโดดเด่นบางประการ ขึ้นอยู่กับการพิจารณาของกรรมการผู้คัดเลือก)
  3. ต้องเป็นภาพยนตร์ที่เสร็จสมบูรณ์แล้วเท่านั้น ไม่รับพิจารณาภาพยนตร์ที่กำลังตัดต่อ หรือยังไม่เสร็จสมบูรณ์
  4. ต้องเสร็จสมบูรณ์หลังจาก 1 มกราคม 2025 (แต่อาจมียกเว้นในบางกรณีขึ้นอยู่กับดุลยพินิจของกรรมการ)
  5. ต้องเป็นภาพยนตร์ที่ไม่เคยฉายในประเทศไทยมาก่อน (แต่อาจมียกเว้นในบางกรณีขึ้นอยู่กับดุลยพินิจของกรรมการ)
  6. หนังทุกเรื่องต้องไม่เคยฉายทางแพลตฟอร์มออนไลน์สาธารณะที่ใดมาก่อน
  7. ภาพยนตร์ทุกเรื่องที่ไม่ได้พูดอังกฤษต้องมีคำบรรยายภาษาอังกฤษ
  8. ผลงานที่ส่งเข้ามาเพื่อรับการพิจารณา ต้องเป็นลิงค์ google drive และ Vimeo เท่านั้น โดยหากเป็น google drive ต้องตั้งค่าการเข้าถึงแบบสาธารณะ และสามารถดาวน์โหลดได้ หรือหากเป็น Vimeo ต้องตั้งค่าแบบใส่รหัส และต้องเปิดให้สามารถดาวน์โหลดได้
  9. ผลงานที่อัพโหลดบนยูทูบ หรือเปิดให้ชมแบบสาธารณะ หรือให้บริการแบบวีโอดี หรือดาวน์โหลดไม่ได้ จะถูกตัดสิทธิ์การพิจารณาโดยอัตโนมัติ (หากคุณสมัครผ่านทาง Film Free Way ก็ขอให้ระบุลิงค์ที่สามารถดาวน์โหลดได้ทาง google drive และ Vimeo มาด้วย)
  10. ลิงค์ต้องสามารถเข้าถึงได้ตั้งแต่วันสมัครจนถึง 15 กรกฎาคม 2026

Notification Date
การประกาศผล

  1. A total of 30 films will be selected for the competition, comprising the following categories: 5 films in the Thai Competition, 10 films in the International Competition, 5 films in the W Section, and 10 short documentary films.
  2. WTD! will notify only the selected applicants by email by 15 June 2026.
  3. The complete list of selected films will be officially announced on the festival website by 1 July 2026.

  2. WTD! จะแจ้งผลเฉพาะผู้ที่ผ่านการคัดเลือกเท่านั้นทางอีเมล์ ภายในวันที่ 15 มิถุนายน 2026
  3. รายชื่อภาพยนตร์ทั้งหมดจะประกาศอย่างเป็นทางการบนหน้าเว็บไซต์ภายในวันที่ 1 กรกฎาคม 2026

Shortlisted Films Regulations
กติกาสำหรับผู้ผ่านการคัดเลือก

  1. If a selected film wishes to withdraw, the applicant must notify the organizer within 5 days of the notification date.
  2. Screening files must be provided in one of the following formats: H.264 MP4, Apple ProRes MOV, or DCP.
  3. Each selected film may be presented for no more than three 3 screenings during the festival. All screening fees are automatically waived.
  4. All selected films must comply with the regulations of the Film and Video Classification Committee of Thailand in order to be officially rated prior to screening. The festival will be responsible for submitting the films and handling the official rating process.
  5. Only filmmakers selected for the International Competition and the Thai Competition who are based overseas (excluding the W Award and Short Documentary Awards) will be eligible for a travel subsidy of USD 650. Reimbursement may be claimed upon arrival in Bangkok, subject to the specified maximum amount and upon submission of supporting documents.
  6. Filmmakers selected for the Thai Competition who are required to travel from provinces outside Bangkok will be eligible for travel reimbursement based on actual expenses. Reimbursement may be claimed after travel, subject to the submission of supporting documents.
  7. The festival will provide accommodation for up to 15 selected filmmakers, both Thai and international, whose films are selected in the main Feature Documentary Competition (excluding the W Award and Short Documentary Awards). 
  8. In the case of films with two directors, the benefits stated above will be granted to only one director. Such benefits are non-transferable and may not be assigned to a producer or any other member of the film team. 
  9. Due to limited budget this year, we sincerely apologize that we are unable to cover travel and accommodation expenses for nominees of the W Award and Short Documentary Awards. However, we would be delighted to welcome you if you are able to attend the festival in person.
  10. Prize recipients are subject to withholding tax in accordance with the tax laws of Thailand. Any bank service charges incurred for remitting the prize money will be deducted from the remitted amount.
  1. หากได้รับการคัดเลือกแต่ประสงค์จะสละสิทธิ์ขอให้แจ้งภายใน 5 วันหลังจากทราบผล
  2. ไฟล์สำหรับฉายต้องเป็น H.264 mp4., Apple ProRes mov. หรือ DCP อย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง
  3. ภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกสามารถจัดฉายได้ไม่เกิน 3 รอบตลอดระยะเวลาของเทศกาล และค่าธรรมเนียมการฉายจะต้องยกเว้นโดยอัตโนมัติ
  4. ภาพยนตร์ทุกเรื่องที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกต้องปฏิบัติตามกฎระเบียบของคณะกรรมการพิจารณาภาพยนตร์และวีดิทัศน์แห่งประเทศไทย เพื่อให้มีการจัดเรตติ้งอย่างเป็นทางการก่อนการฉาย ซึ่งทางเทศกาลจะเป็นผู้รับผิดชอบในการส่งขั้นตอนการจัดเรตติ้ง
  5.  เฉพาะผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับคัดเลือกเข้าสู่สายประกวดนานาชาติ และสายประกวดไทยที่พำนักอยู่ในต่างประเทศเท่านั้น (ยกเว้นรางวัล W อะวอร์ด และสายรางวัลสารคดีสั้น) ที่จะมีสิทธิ์ได้รับเงินอุดหนุนค่าเดินทางจำนวนไม่เกิน 20,000 บาท สามารถขอเบิกคืนได้เมื่อเดินทางถึงกรุงเทพฯ โดยอยู่ภายใต้วงเงินสูงสุดที่กำหนดและต้องยื่นเอกสารประกอบ
  6. สำหรับผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกในสายประกวดไทยและมีถิ่นพำนักอยู่นอกกรุงเทพ จะได้รับการสนับสนุนค่าเดินทางตามค่าใช้จ่ายจริง โดยสามารถยื่นขอรับการเบิกค่าใช้จ่ายได้ภายหลัง พร้อมแนบเอกสารประกอบการเบิกจ่าย
  7. เทศกาลจะจัดหาที่พักให้แก่ผู้ได้รับคัดเลือกเพียง 15 คนเท่านั้น ทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติในสายประกวดหลักของภาพยนตร์สารคดี (ไม่รวมสาย W Award และสายภาพยนตร์สารคดีสั้น)
  8. กรณีที่มีผู้กำกับ 2 ท่าน จะได้รับสิทธิ์ดังที่กล่าวเอาไว้ข้างต้นเพียงท่านเดียว และสิทธิ์นั้นไม่สามารถโอนให้ผู้อำนวยการสร้างหรือทีมงานท่านอื่นได้
  9. เนื่องด้วยปีนี้ทางเทศกาลมีงบประมาณจำกัด ทางเราจึงขออภัยเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ไม่สามารถรับผิดชอบค่าใช้จ่ายด้านการเดินทางและที่พักสำหรับผู้ที่ได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัล W อะวอร์ด และ รางวัลพิเศษสารคดีสั้นได้ อย่างไรก็ตามทางเทศกาลยินดีเป็นอย่างยิ่งหากท่านสามารถเดินทางมาเข้าร่วมงานเทศกาลด้วยตนเอง
  10. ผู้ได้รับรางวัลจะถูกหักภาษี ณ ที่จ่ายตามกฎหมายภาษีของประเทศไทย และค่าธรรมเนียมธนาคารที่เกิดขึ้นจากการโอนเงินรางวัลจะถูกหักจากจำนวนเงินที่โอน

รางวัลพิเศษ: การประกวดบทความ WTD! 2026

พิเศษสำหรับเทศกาล WTD! 2026 ในปีนี้จะมีการมอบรางวัลบทความดีเด่นเป็นจำนวน 3 รางวัล รางวัลละ 10,000 บาท (รวมมูลค่าทั้งสิ้น 30,000 บาท)

กติกา :

  1. เขียนชวน เขียนชม หรือจะเขียนวิจารณ์ มาเป็นบทความไม่ต่ำกว่าครึ่งหน้า A4 และต้องเป็นหนังที่ฉายภายในเทศกาล WTD!2 เท่านั้น พร้อมแนบภาพตั๋วหนังรอบที่ดู
  2. เขียนลงบนเฟซบุ๊กเท่านั้น โดยเปิดเป็นสาธารณะ ติดแฮชแท็ก #WTD2026 แล้วส่งลิงค์เข้ามาทางอีเมล์ [email protected] พร้อมทั้งระบุชื่อ นามสกุล อายุ อาชีพ/สถาบันการศึกษา เบอร์โทรศัพท์
  3. ต้องเผยแพร่ภายในช่วงวันที่ 3-11 กันยายน 2026 เท่านั้น
  4. ผลงานที่ทำตามกติกาครบถ้วนจึงจะได้รับการพิจารณาจากคณะกรรมการ
