Synopsis

In 2025, the Kostka Gang—a group of street children aged five to fifteen—terrorises the slums of Mondomanila through robbery and murder. When an attempt to rob the central bank goes disastrously wrong, their leader, Boss, is sent to prison while the stolen money disappears.

Released in 2053, Boss reunites with the surviving members, only to find them being killed one by one. What begins as a punk crime film transforms into a delirious whodunnit, blending grotesque violence, dark humour, animation and a nightmarish vision of the Philippines’ future.

Khavn De La Cruz (b. 1973, Manila, Philippines) is a filmmaker, writer, poet, pianist, songwriter and composer widely regarded as a central figure in the Philippine No Wave movement. Since 1994, he has directed more than 300 films, combining punk sensibility, dark humour, music, violence, formal experimentation and critiques of history and politics. His work has been exhibited at institutions including MoMA, MAXXI, the Guggenheim Museum, Tate Modern, Museo Reina Sofía, the National Museum of Singapore and the Venice Architecture Biennale. He has served on juries at major international film festivals, including the Berlinale and DOK Leipzig, and has curated programmes for the Viennale, Edinburgh International Film Festival and Sharjah Biennial.
