Three filmmakers return to places, memories and pasts that continue to shape their present lives. Xiaolu Guo revisits the Chinese seaside town where she grew up with her grandparents, finding a landscape transformed by time, redevelopment and global maritime industries. Andrea Luka Zimmerman turns to personal archives and childhood diaries from Germany, confronting intergenerational violence and the circumstances that led them away from home.

Mania Akbari brings the viewer into the intimate world of a family rebuilding its life after displacement. Together, the three autobiographical works form a layered reflection on home as place, memory and psychological condition, asking what it means to return when neither the place nor the person returning remains the same.
