What the Doc! (WTD!) 2026 ขอชวนคุณกลับมามองผู้คน เหตุการณ์ และประวัติศาสตร์ที่อาจถูกทำให้เงียบ ถูกหลงลืม หรือถูกลบเลือน เพราะภาพยนตร์สารคดีมิได้ทำหน้าที่เพียงบันทึกสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น หากยังเป็นพื้นที่ของการเป็นประจักษ์พยาน การรื้อฟื้นความทรงจำ และการนำสิ่งที่ถูกผลักออกจากสายตาของสาธารณชนกลับมาให้เราเผชิญหน้ากันอีกครั้ง
What the Doc! (WTD!), Thailand's International Documentary Film Festival, returns in 2026 with an invitation to look again at the people, events, and histories that may have been silenced, forgotten, or erased. Documentary cinema does more than record history; it creates a space to bear witness, reclaim memory, and bring what was pushed into the shadows back into view.
ภาพที่นำมาใช้เป็นคีย์วิชวลหลักของเทศกาลคือผลงานศิลปะจากชุด Red Face ซึ่งจัดแสดงในนิทรรศการ AMNESIA เมื่อปี 2019 ภาพบุคคลในชุดนี้เชื่อมโยงกับผู้เสียชีวิตและผู้ได้รับผลกระทบจากการปราบปรามการชุมนุมทางการเมืองในเดือนเมษายน–พฤษภาคม พ.ศ.2553 เป็นการทวงคืนใบหน้า ชีวิต และความทรงจำของผู้คนซึ่งมักถูกลดทอนให้เหลือเพียงตัวเลขในประวัติศาสตร์
Featured as the key visual, this painting is from the Red Face series, exhibited in AMNESIA in 2019. The portraits in this series are connected to those killed or affected by the suppression of political protests in April and May 2010. They reclaim the faces, lives, and memories of people who are often reduced to anonymous numbers in historical accounts.
ตะวัน วัตุยาเป็นศิลปินร่วมสมัยชาวไทยผู้ได้รับการยอมรับจากเทคนิคสีน้ำอันโดดเด่น ตลอดจนการนำเสนอประเด็นทางสังคมและการเมืองอย่างเฉียบคม ผลงานของเขาผสานภาษาภาพอันเปี่ยมด้วยมิติทางกวีเข้ากับการตั้งคำถามเชิงวิพากษ์ โดยสำรวจการเมือง ความทรงจำ ระยะห่าง และสภาวะของสังคมไทยร่วมสมัย
ตะวันมีผลงานจัดแสดงทั้งในประเทศไทยและต่างประเทศ อาทิ “Prudential Eye Awards Exhibition” ที่สิงคโปร์ในปี 2016, “Rogues Gallery: Monsters, Villains & Hellbent Politicians” ที่นิวยอร์กในปี 2018, “Queen” ที่โตเกียวในปี 2019, “Money” ในเทศกาล Bangkok Art Biennale ที่กรุงเทพฯ ในปี 2020, “Keep in the Dark” ที่กรุงเทพฯ ในปี 2021, “Transform” ที่โตเกียวในปี 2025 และ “Money” ที่ลักเซมเบิร์กในปี 2026 นอกจากนี้ เขายังได้รับรางวัลศิลปินศิลปาธร สาขาทัศนศิลป์ ประจำปี 2023
Tawan Wattuya is a Thai contemporary artist widely recognised for his distinctive mastery of watercolour and his incisive engagement with social and political issues. His work combines poetic visual language with critical inquiry, exploring politics, memory, distance, and the conditions of contemporary Thai society.
His works have been exhibited extensively in Thailand and internationally, including at the “Prudential Eye Awards Exhibition” in Singapore in 2016; “Rogues Gallery: Monsters, Villains & Hellbent Politicians” in New York in 2018; “Queen” in Tokyo in 2019; “Money” at the Bangkok Art Biennale in 2020; “Keep in the Dark” in Bangkok in 2021; “Transform” in Tokyo in 2025; and “Money” in Luxembourg in 2026. In 2023, he was honoured with the Silpathorn Award in Visual Arts.
