The Via Dolorosa is a historic street in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, revered as the path that Jesus Christ took on his way to his crucifixion. But Via Dolorosa is also, in modern-day Jerusalem, where Palestinian residents live under the constant threat of arrests by Israeli soldiers. It is thus a microcosm of both a religious history and a political present.

Tal Elkayam is a filmmaker based in Jaffa, Israel/Palestine. His debut feature documentary, Figure-Ground, had its world premiere at IDFA and went on to screen at various international film festivals. He is the founder and co-artistic director of Resistance Cinema, a political film club in Israel/Palestine dedicated to independent and socially engaged cinema. He previously worked at Cinephil as a Festival Manager, where he oversaw festival strategy and international distribution for documentary films.
