Lina (Iin Marlina)

(Jhih-Jie Chu / 2024 / 44 min / Taiwan)

Lina is from Indonesia and has been working as a domestic caregiver in Grandma’s home in Taiwan for six years. With almost no days off, she cooks and does housework every day. During the Chinese New Year period, she even has to prepare meals for over a dozen people. Despite the heavy workload, Lina always treats Grandma with enthusiasm and never complains, even when scolded.

Originally, Lina came to take care of Grandpa. After he passed away, her contract was nearing its end. The money she earned over the years in Taiwan was enough to buy a large house in Indonesia. However, Grandma wanted Lina to stay and keep her company. After some hesitation, Lina agreed. Out of curiosity, I used the excuse of a school project to glimpse into the lives of Grandma and Lina.
