Inle Echoes documents the aftermath of a powerful earthquake that struck Nyaung Shwe, Myanmar, devastating communities built on Inle Lake. Homes collapsed into the very water that once sustained daily life, leaving loss etched into the landscape. Through intimate observation, the film follows residents as they mourn, rebuild, and remember, with the lake itself becoming both witness and archive, reflecting resilience alongside grief.
Centred on lived experience (rituals, memories, and quiet endurance), the documentary reveals how a community holds on to its identity and spirit after a sudden rupture.

Biography

Thaiddhi is a filmmaker and cinematographer who began his career in documentary filmmaking in 2006. He studied for three years in the Cinema and Digital Media Master’s programme at FAMU in the Czech Republic. In 2011 he co-founded the Wathann Film Festival, Myanmar’s first film festival and a key platform for independent cinema. In 2013 he co-founded Third Floor Film Production with Thu Thu Shein to support emerging filmmakers and connect Myanmar cinema with the international scene.
