In a border crossing of register, archive and memory, Translating one’s own (or the symptom of remembering) transforms the experience of a journey into a trace. It navigates as a gesture that persists over an open wound that resonates between landscapes and the passing of the days. This personal log explores the nebulous state of those who remain in a deja vu, searching for a texture with their gaze.

Biography

Nicolás Onischuk is an Argentine filmmaker and audiovisual artist. Born in the plains of La Pampa, he studied Audiovisual Arts at the National University of La Plata and is currently based in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires. His work unfolds between documentary cinema, audiovisual essay, archival experimentation, animation, sound, and expanded practices. His films and installations explore memory, the body, landscape, and the ways in which images preserve what time seems to erase. His works have been shown at festivals, museums, art centers, and contemporary cinema spaces such as CPH, Prismatic Ground at Anthology Film Archives in New York, BAFICI, FIDBA, Ethnocineca, Ethnografilm, Lima Alterna, Transcinema, VIDEOFORMES, art + film + vienna, Athens Digital Arts Festival, Film Festival Dokumenter, SANFICI, Cinetoro Experimental Film Festival, MUTA, Labocine, arebyte Digital Art Centre, and Cine Gaumont / INCAA, among others. In 2021, he co-founded MOHO, an audiovisual production and creation platform. He develops projects linked to experimental cinema, archive, ritual, perception, and territories marked by invisible memories. His artistic search is located on the threshold between document and apparition, between sensitive record and spectral experience.
