In February 2021, Myanmar’s military staged a coup, plunging the country back into brutal military dictatorship. Citizens across the country began coordinating against the junta in what became known as the Spring Revolution.
The film follows the lives of three women within this resistance movement (referred to as the Medic, the Soldier, and the Humanitarian) using their stories to reveal both the atrocities committed by the junta and the remarkable successes of the democracy movement. Despite heartbreaking losses, the women’s hope is that, like spring, their efforts will lead to new beginnings.
Due to the political situation in Myanmar, the director works under the pseudonym “Kali,” and the accompanying photo is an illustrated graphic for safety reasons. For the same reasons, the film team has chosen to remain anonymous.
