Crisscrossing the geographical and spiritual latitudes of Thailand, Worship is a sensory immersion into the ritualised power of faith and the ways it shapes people’s lives.
Travelling from North to South and East to West, the documentary moves through clouds of incense smoke, Buddhist rites, animist rituals, shamanistic divinations, flagellant processions and the vibrant blessing ceremonies of guru monks. Farmers, villagers, monks, mediums, temple hustlers and devotees form an anthropological portrait of Thailand at its most faithful and hallucinatory, while the film probes the fine line between devotion and superstition, transcendence and decadence.

อุรุพงศ์ รักษาสัตย์ เป็นผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์อิสระและอาจารย์ด้านภาพยนตร์ คณะวารสารศาสตร์และสื่อสารมวลชน มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ เกิดและเติบโตในอำเภอเทิง จังหวัดเชียงราย ในครอบครัวเกษตรกร ผลงานส่วนใหญ่ของเขาเป็นภาพยนตร์สารคดีที่สำรวจชีวิตในชนบทไทย ทั้งวิถีชีวิต ประเพณี ความเชื่อ ตลอดจนความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และการเมือง เขาสำเร็จการศึกษาด้านภาพยนตร์และภาพถ่ายจากคณะวารสารศาสตร์และสื่อสารมวลชน มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ และปริญญาโทด้านภาพยนตร์และสื่อดิจิทัลจากมหาวิทยาลัยเกษมบัณฑิต ผลงานภาพยนตร์เรื่องยาวของเขา ได้แก่ Stories from the North, Agrarian Utopia, The Songs of Rice, Worship, Song of Angry People, Paradox Democracy และ Songsakan เขาได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นศิลปินศิลปาธร สาขาภาพยนตร์และสื่อเคลื่อนไหว ในปี 2017 และได้รับ UNESCO Award จาก Asia Pacific Screen Awards จาก Agrarian Utopia
Uruphong Raksasad is an independent filmmaker and film lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Thammasat University. Born and raised in a farming family in Thoeng, Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, his films largely explore rural life, traditions, beliefs and the economic, social and political transformations affecting Thailand. His feature films include Stories from the North, Agrarian Utopia, The Songs of Rice, Worship, Song of Angry People, Paradox Democracy and Songsakan. In 2017, he was named a Silpathorn Artist in Film and Moving Image. His Agrarian Utopia received the UNESCO Award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, alongside numerous prizes at international film festivals. Special Screening
