เรื่องราวของ “ตุ้ม—ศศิ โพธิ์ศรี” เจ้าของร้านอาหารไทยในเมืองอ็อกซ์ฟอร์ด ประเทศอังกฤษ หลังใช้ชีวิตในต่างแดนมากว่า 20 ปี เธอตัดสินใจพาแม่ที่กำลังแก่ตัวลงมาอยู่ด้วยกันที่อังกฤษ แต่นั่นกลับทำให้เธอหวนคิดถึงเส้นทางชีวิตในอดีต ทบทวนถึงความเป็นไปได้ที่รออยู่ในอนาคต รวมถึงเผชิญคำถามสำคัญที่ว่า "บ้าน" ที่แท้จริงของเธออยู่ที่ไหนกันแน่

Director’s Statement :

Thai people are famous for their cooking and Thai restaurants can be found at every street corner in the capital cities of the world. But who knows what’s going on behind the kitchen? As a Thai filmmaker I hold a key to this hidden world of Thai people who are hidden away in their own bubble upstairs of your favourite Thai restaurant. Within that world I found people with different journeys and destinations, as if there is a microcosm of dreams inside one restaurant. I was led down the rabbit hole and eventually emerged on the other side with an actually universal story about home and displacement.

Even though conceived as an observation documentary, the film is greatly inspired by the tender family films of Hirokazu Kore-eda, the dreamy soundscape in Apichartpong Weerasethakul’s work, and the vivacious food shots of David Gelb’s Chef Table series.
